Outwit, Outlast and Splash.

What should we do today?  Go to the beach was the reply but first a little breakfast.

Today we attempted to conquer or rather, stay on a large water adventure playground.  A couple of days ago Alyssa spotted this “Survivor” like obstacle course that was floating on the water and stated that we ALL needed to try it out.  Within seconds of starting Alyssa and Kevin were on the course while Jenna and I were still trying to gather the courage to dunk in the water as we felt a little cool.  Once in we quickly joined in the fun.  It was a lot harder than it looked!  Run, run, step, step and swish I was off and into the water.  We had a lot of laughs as we attempted to get across floating round pads, monkey bars hanging above the water, running along a tube among trying to climb up a rather big pillow like air bag!  Not only was it fun but a lot of physical work getting yourself back up on the equipment.  Jenna in particular struggled to stay on her feet and spent half the time in the water and the other half laughing.  There were even opportunities to challenge your friend or family on a race course that reminded me of the show Survivor.  Apparently in our race Alyssa won the immunity idol.  Perhaps one of the funniest moments was when Kevin launched Jenna off one of the pillows high into the air.  Other people watching also started to laugh as she squealed while flying through the air!  Before we knew it our time was up and it was time to go.

After a little break back at our room Kevin and the girls headed out in the kayak to look for shells and I took a leisurely walk into town to get some groceries.  It felt very peaceful strolling along the promenade knowing I didn’t
need to hurry back at any particular time.  If only it were like that every day when at home!  Along the promenade there are a number of beautiful sculptures made out of the island’s white limestone.  It felt a little like an open area gallery except that you had to walk a little between each piece.  Apparently the Romans came to the island of Brac in which Bol is situated in 167 BC to quarry the white stone to build their many amazing buildings.  Stone from here was also used to build (at least some of) the White House in the United States. Many vendors sold beautifully carved bowls, vases etc that was made out of stone from the island.  I really wanted to bring back a bowl and a rolling pin but that would be a little too heavy for me to carry in my backpack.

The remainder of the evening was pretty relaxed as we prepared for our boat trip we would be taking the next day.   Kevin and I went for an evening walk and purchased two more sets of swimming goggles so we had something to allow us to see what was beneath the water without hurting our eyes.  The water here is so clean and clear that sea urchins and other creatures look close up although they can be down 50 ft or more.   On our trip we are suppose to be able to swim at the Green Cave and other beaches so we’ll see how the goggles work.

Another great day in a Croatian paradise!
