Happy Father’s Day

Today is the last full day in Finale and the kids are already talking about how they don’t want to leave.  Got an extremely late start to the day but it worked out well as Shan and I got Croatia figured out and booked the accommodation there.  Five nights on an island off Split, should make for another nice relaxing time after the craziness of Rome.
Down to the beach by the crack of 2 pm and managed to find a place on the beach.  Man is it packed!  We found a little spot with a few feet between everyone else but it is surprisingly relaxing.  Everyone respects everyone else’s space and it wasn't nearly as bad as I thought it would be when seeing photos of these crazy packed beaches.
The beach in the evening is pretty deserted but not in the day time.

The water here is incredible; you can take a deep breath, relax and actually float on the surface with no problem with no paddling.
The main square always has something going on.
Alyssa and I swam out to a small dock they have floating off the beach and hung out for a while.  Sure nice just bobbing around, riding the waves.  As we sat around on the beach for the three days we have not heard one bit of English spoken except for when hanging out with Patrick and crew.  It was sure fun hanging out with our friends from Oregon as both the kids and adults had fun!

Everyone fell asleep on the beach for a bit, luckily everyone was well dosed with sunscreen as man, the sun is hot when there are no clouds.  Shannon bought a sun umbrella off a beach vendor which has sure come in handy over the last few days.  It’s always nice to cool down in the Mediterranean as it’s not too warm and gives a nice respite.

Packed up for the day and headed for the shower but of course had to stop on the way at our favourite gelato shop on the way.  Back downtown for dinner and home to pack for tomorrow.  It’s been a great place to hang out for a few days, definitely coming back but next time I’ll have my bike with me!
