Look out Paris.... Here we Come!

I dropped off the girls at the
train station and then the rental car and we were off to Paris.  Another beautiful ride over the French countryside into Paris, the Porte Nord.  The train station was huge!  Everyone seemed to know where they were going even though we had no clue.  We followed the herd into the main station, and then it was time to get our bearings.  Managed to figure out where we needed to go to catch the Metro and how you paid for it.  It’s always helpful when you ask!  I’ve got no hesitation to ask anymore as it’s saved us more times than I’d like to admit!  Parle vous francais? And you get a “oui” and it’s all good.  Got our tickets and after changing three times on the Metro, we saw the light of day.  The directions to the hostel were super easy to follow and I’ve finally figured how to screen shot the directions on my phone.  That and a little forethought has made navigating around a lot easier from the beginning of the trip.

Along the streets we passed many little markets with beautiful fresh veggies and fruit, butchers and of course the bakeries with their pastries and baguettes.  All the locals seem to walking around with a baguette in their hand eating it plain.  It didn’t take long for Shan and I to figure out why!  Couldn’t be any fresher and warm...  Pretty hard to get it home without eating it all.

We checking into our hostel in the southwest of Paris and Jenna grabbed a bottom bunk before
Jenna multi tasking....just got wifi!
Shannon knew what was going on.  We had to grab our own sheet and make our own beds but this room even had its own ensuite.  Pretty hard to sit on the toilet without banging your head or knees, the girls even complained how cramped it was!  You can just imagine.... well, please don’t....  let’s just say the only way this room would work is that the door swings open into the bedroom.  Shower, toilet and sink in a four foot by two foot space.

We headed down to find some food at the market for dinner and lunch tomorrow to head back to the hostel.  The cooking facilities weren’t the greatest but today we’ve been craving salad so it was a pretty easy meal.  Of course with the nice fresh salad we had to have a fresh baguette.  Earlier to bed so we could hit the sidewalk running tomorrow to explore our first day in Paris!
Oh, and by the way, did I say I now love to travel on the fast trains!  They fly and give you a great view at the same time.  That and I don’t have to worry about speed limits, what side of the road to drive on, whether it’s a one way street or just a really narrow road, or how to get through the crazy round abouts!
